"Finland has world-class resource districts with access to abundant, low-cost renewable power and excellent infrastructure"
- CD Capital, Cayman Islands
My homeland Finland's promise draws global mining companies and renewable energy developers to the Arctic under the banner of green transition.
My work asks whether we're repeating old patterns of energy colonisation: decades ago, the damming of Kemijoki silenced the river and devastated communities in Lapland in the name of progress. Through documentary photography, I examine areas now marked as sacrifice zones for mines, wind farms and pipelines.
