“The eye--it cannot choose but see.”

Born in 1986, I am a Finnish documentary photographer and visual storyteller, with a focus on long-term documentary photography. In my work I explore themes of injustice, empathy and rebellion.

My project Dandelions documents the lives of HIV-at-risk women living with opioid addiction in Romania. Previously, I’ve explored the struggles of the LGBT+ communities in Russia (Love and Other Truths). Through my work, I try to capture both the vulnerability and dignity of my subjects and their stories.

My area of interest lies in the Balkans and Eastern Europe more broadly. I have an MA from Slavic and Eastern European studies, I have lived in the former Yugoslavia and speak the local languages.

I work on commissions for a variety of publications and magazines in Finland and internationally.
